Roofers in Newmarket

Newmarket is a short drive from Red Lodge along the A11 and A14. We work across the town and the villages around it, including Exning, Moulton, Kentford, Cheveley and Dalham.

Newmarket is known around the world for horse racing, and its streets reflect that history, with Georgian and Victorian buildings in the town centre, rows of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, and newer estates on the edges of town. Older houses here often have slate roofs and brick chimney stacks, while newer homes have concrete tiles.

On older homes we are asked for chimney repairs, lead flashing and valley repairs, and full re-roofs where slates or tiles have reached the end of their life. On newer homes, it is more often ridges, roofline and flat roofs on extensions.

If your home is listed or in a conservation area, check with the council before changing the look of the roof. Every inspection and written quote is free, and we hold £1m public liability insurance.

Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Newmarket often share chimney stacks, valleys and gutters with the houses next door. That means a leak can start on one roof and show up in another, and some repairs need a word with the neighbours before work begins. We will explain where the problem is coming from and what the work involves, so you can talk it through with anyone else affected.

Natural slate lasts a long time, but the nails holding it in place do not, and nail fatigue is a common reason for slates to slip on older roofs around the town. If only a few slates have gone, we can refix or replace them. If they are slipping across the whole roof, a re-roof with new battens and membrane is often the better long-term answer, and we will give you a written quote for both options.
